.i don't know why but this is stuck in my head

"Ponyo Ponyo Ponyo She's a tiny little fish~"

a little video to share, in case you don't know what i am talking about:

Ponyo is a new japanese anime and its trailer has been out on TV for days already.
Apparently, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (崖の上のポニョ, Gake no Ue no Ponyo?) is a by Japanese Anime Studio Ghibli, written and directed by anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

It's about a baby fish, or you can call it a mermaid since it has a human head with the face, named Ponyo who becomes a human girl. Sounds like the good old sweet little mermaid show without the lovey dovey thing going on.

And I wanna watch it! *HINT*

The song for this anime is so kawaii! Esp with the small kid singing.

And sadly to say, I'm stuck with the tune and the song that I kept humming to it.
Alright, sounds a lil' stupid but sometimes it really lightens up your mood when you hear such songs.

Nowadays all the cartoons and shows have pretty violent songs. Lotsa special effects and all in the song. BORING~

Where are all the good ol' days when all the cartoons have happy go lucky songs and tunes with happy people running around?

.kindness, who?

*push push and push further*

OMG! What's up with that auntie?
Hello? I'm also getting off at the same stop as you.

So quit pushing! And the train opposite is not gonna arrive any faster even when you rush to the front of the entrance.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fine, so that's just another auntie who irritated me almost every other day when I take public transport to work.

and it gets more frustrating when ANOTHER (older) auntie push and rushed into the train, seperated me and V when we were getting into the train. and she can stand right in the middle of the both of us~

Thanks huh! V and I stared at her and stared back at one another, then V grabbed my hand and attempted to pull me towards him in the cabin. When she realised we were together, like finally!, she moved backwards to let me go.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like what's up with all the people nowadays?! Kiasu huh! Singaporeans, please!
Shame la! Be gracious? Forget it man... Even having the Kindness Campaign, it's not gonna work.

I don't think even when people are nice, they will even appreciate it. So far, I've only bumped into 1 that is kind enough to say thank you and smile when we held the lift door open for him. The rest just mumble and grumble some rubbish and move on.

it's all stuck in their head!

all those selfish, d**b r****ds - cannot drive, cannot walk properly, cannot talk properly.

why be kind when all of them will piss you off eventually?!

I'm nice and polite to others. Only if they are, to me as well.

And speaking of driving, oh my god.. i think 80% of the singaporeans cannot drive. And they should ban people like aunties, and tais tais and those young kids, and taxi uncles!

then again - MEN are often the ones who think they can drive, but they can't la!
Hogging of lanes, taking two lanes - swaying here and there and the most irritating one - don't signal! is it so expensive to signal? the light bulbs expensive huh?

.we MISSED Mas's wedding!

hur hur hur....
we missed Mas's wedding!

Omg omg omg omg!

I was still telling Vahns we should get this and bla bla for Mas.
And there we are, forgetting that it was HER wedding yesterday!

The funny thing is, I've forgotten one of my primary sch bestie's wedding too!
So looking forward to it, but I actually forgotten bout it. Until the day ends, and while I was bathing then I remembered.

I think its quite horrible to forget a wedding. Sucha HAPPY occasion!

One of the many resolutions for 2009: Write down, set alarm for important events~!

.the expensive camera

it's been a long and tiring weekend. Sometimes holidays with you having to come back for work on a Friday is so.... frustrating!

You're having the time of your life, then you stop. go work. then party your weekend away again~

it's UNHEALTHY! didn't they say you cannot stop all of a sudden else your heart might just stop altogether? (hokay! i was just bs-ing!)

A note to add: we had a great dinner over at our place with some friends and Vahns did a fantastic job in cooking and also clearing up the mess when I was sleeping. The place was spankingly clean when I woke up. So thanks, dear!

anyways the Vahns and i sorta got "chop the carrot head" just 2 days back and i think, we paid like one to two hundred extra for a low end digital camera. We've been thinking of getting one and well... I've been thinking of getting one too. But didn't think it was much of an importance. Anyway - we got it still.

Okay, I managed to find a picture of it online. That's the J110W FujiFilm camera, can somebody tell me if this is worth like 400 odd?!

Vahns is so upset and I was laughing away when I see his ultimate frustrated and sad look. Well, we bought it already - what can we do, right? Just LLST.

I had to tell him, "maybe that guy didn't cheat us la, bla bla bla..."

We were looking at Panasonic Lumix or a Casio Z100 or Cannon. But that guy showed the difference in color quality for the different cameras, (he showed Panasonic and another brand - think Sony or something) and the color for FujiFilm was the closest you can get from reality and on tv. And we were sorta 'bought over' by the way the camera thingy lens shift in and out so nicely! Looking so like a mini digital SLR camera.

And seriously! I did not want to buy it just because he commented that Vahns and me have "fu qi xiang"!

It wasn't true! IF that's the case, then isn't it very easy for the sales people to con me, right?

But... I was still happy la! Hahaha... And to make myself clear - I didn't want it because of that comment!

Furthermore, must be the watch that Vahns was wearing that made that guy jack up the price for the camera. Cos he was saying that guy was looking at his watch while stating the price. -__-

So people - next time go buy things, PLEASE, please! wear like those pasar malam watches (without the BLINGS, please) and in rags, okay? So those con men will 'siam' you far far away.

That is why - never ever go buy things at Sim Lim! You never know when you hit a "black shop".

.the gingerbread man has a tale to tell.

Latest Update: I managed to find a picture of the gingerbread man we did!

Me and the poor Vahns had to sleep at 5 am in the morning.
Thanks to the many little 'gingerbread' man cookies that we baked for Christmas.

I made orange choocolate flavour instead of the usual gingerbread flavour, in case many of them didn't like the taste.

Sad to say - the cookies tasted not too bad. But all of them are breaking their legs and heads!!!!! to my horror!

Vahns tried salvaging by putting icing and attempted to mend them. and his icing didn't harden as well! Argh!

In the end, an army of 30 over cookies - we only managed to get a few out to work. So depressing! Was rushing for time and had to forgo the rest. But I think Vahns is happy 'cos that means later tonight he'll have more cookies for himself!

Note to self: I should use a more crispy biscuit recipe instead of the softer one. Always always go get pre-made icing before the event.

Let's just hope they will like my cookies this Christmas!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oops! I realised I didn't post this up! Anyway for updates - I only managed to save the gingerbread men and gave them to friends as goodie bags along with some sweets and choc bar.

Note to self: never try to bake things in a rush 'cos I will end up throwing half of it away. Nice things only will turn out nice when done slow~

But at least, Edmund and gang said that my bread pudding was worth the wait!

Also, thanks for the many gifts that I received! Love them all! Of course, Vahn's gift is the best la - okay! Hahaha...

. pink and white balls day!

Sunday was 'Tong Zhi' day, and we had to go to V's 'niang jia' for tang yuan.

His mum made so many nice dishes, especially that fish maw soup! *drools*
And I didn't know fish maw was fish stomach. Eew!

However due to my gluttony - I will still eat it, as long as I don't see the thing before it got processed.

Sometimes I wonder, how does our parents miraculously know when is "Tong Zhi" and whatever traditional funny festivals or day?! Amazed by how they keep track. If it's me, I think that day has already ended before I even know it's coming.

It's not even on a fixed date in our normal calendar. Somehow or rather, they will just go like - "oh tomorrow's "bla bla" day.... better get this and that ready."

Don't think I will ever look at the lunar calendar 'cos I don't even know how do you use it. Thank god, it's not a must to follow such traditions.

Anyways, talking bout those tang yuan... I just love the traditional pink and white flour balls. DCon't particularly fancy those with fillings. And somehow - the pink ones always taste sweeter than the white ones even though it's just coloring.

Christmas is coming! Can't wait for christmas eve - and gonna try baking Orange Choc Gingerbread Man for them...

.Japanese Lunch Set - worth it!

"Lunch?"

"Where to?"

"Japanese food, good and cheap"

And my beloved sister brought me to this place at Goldhill Plaza - Matsuo Sushi Restaurant.

This restaurant is pretty small, read up a few reviews online and most of them commented that the food is good. So i was expecting something good.

We had the Raw Fish with Vinegared Rice Lunch Set. Comes with chawanmushi and fruits.

I was expecting a meagre amount of sashimi on top of a large bowl of rice. Well... that's what you normally get when yuo order a Salmon Don or something at other "japanese" restaurants.

To my surprise, the bowl came with a generous amount of assorted sashimi and the works. You get like, salmon, swordfish, tuna, amaebi, cooked prawn, scallop (i think it was), cooked octopus, grilled eel, some roe and 2 egg rolls! And the best part - the rest is only 1/3 of the bowl.

Yums yums!

Talk about sashimi don at other places, man! This one wins hands down.

And the chawanmushi - you don't see like grilled eel and prawns in it normally, right? But this one does! Omg omg omg...

And the miso soup - there's a prawn head inside... And this made the thing exceptionally delectably sweet!

Definitely will go there again. To try their other stuffs!

Sorry - no pictures provided 'cos I don't own a digital camera. Guess I spent all my money on food and more food. Hur hur hur.

Well, i was seated at the counter area - and those seated there were all Japanese.

Tip to find out if the place is good JAPANESE food and not those imposters :
The more Japanese you find, the better the food is.

Tested and proven!

Service wise - you can really see the difference I guess. That's quite sad. 'Cos service is very important to me - it will either spoil my appettite or won't. But it was not very noticeable to me, cos I was busy yakking away and eating my food.

Good stuffs have to be shared, right?
So - the place is at Goldhill Plaza, #01-17 Goldhill Plaza . There's a lunch break inbetween from 2.30pm - 6pm and it closes at 10pm.

Love going for makan session with my sister (which is rather rare now) cos' she will bring you to places with good food! Most of them I have never heard of it. Which is a good thing, cos' there's still many good food places I have yet to uncover.

Vahns, I think you will love this place and although you had such a sumptous buffet this afternoon, I won't envy you cos' I had a good one as well! xoxo
